The UCD Symphony Orchestra celebrates its twentieth anniversary season with the fourth in its hugely successful series of Night at the Movies concerts, coming to the NCH for the first time. The programme features classics and original music from The Right Stuff, Excalibur, The Great Dictator, Lieutenant Kijé, Battleship Potemkin, E.T. and Frozen. The orchestra is joined by UCD Ad Astra Performing Arts Scholar Winifred Massey to perform Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue that famously opens Woody Allen's 1979 film Manhattan.
Review from Hot Press, And In the End with the Bootleg Beatles at the BGET, October 2019:
‘The added bonus is the UCD Symphony Orchestra conducted by the expert hand of Professor Ciarán Crilly, the artistic director of the Orchestra since its foundation. Having been fortunate enough to see them expand Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band into a breath-taking 50th anniversary celebration last year, that record brought to life in technicolour 3-D, I expected something special tonight, and I wasn’t to be disappointed.’
